The local community of Ilia has recently been saddened by the unexplained deaths of mothers and children.
The sudden death of a 38-year-old woman who was sitting quietly in Amaliata, after the loss of a 15-month-old infant, has caused great sadness in the area. The bed of her house with the baby in a hug.
She is 38-year-old Ioanna Georgiou, who gave birth to her second child last Thursday (08/01). But in the early morning hours of August 6, she suddenly passed away while sitting on the couch with her newborn baby in her arms.
The child’s husband and father witnessed the sad scene
When the fatal incident happened, her husband was at work and their eldest child – 2.5 years old – was with her grandmother, who had a cold and her mother had to take care of their 5-day-old child.
However, unfortunately, on Tuesday morning (06/08), the child’s husband and father witnessed the tragic scene. Their last contact was last Monday at 11:30 p.m., hours before the fatal incident.
Her husband tried several times to contact her on the phone during the night but she did not answer his calls, he suspected something bad had happened and returned to their house in “Baluki” early yesterday morning saddened.
He broke the window and entered the house and found his wife dead on the couch of their house, next to the baby who was a few days old, crying.
It has been dead for at least six hours
According to the information of the “Pattis” newspaper, the unfortunate woman died at least 6 hours before she was found, which is also proven by her body stiffness when she was taken to the hospital.
The cause of the 38-year-old woman’s death is expected to be clarified by an autopsy, which will be carried out at the Forensic Service of Patras, where she was transferred.
