Rumors about PS5 Pro It broke again a few hours ago when YouTuber 'Moore's Law Is Dead' brought to light a series of documents detailing the technical specifications of the updated console.
These specs seemed realistic, but with this particular channel having a history of both confirmations and leaks, many questioned whether they were actually true. The leak could be true, as Insider Gaming's most trusted reporter, Tom Henderson, came to confirm it. In case you didn't know, Henderson first revealed Sony's plans to release an upgraded PS5, while also talking about a portable streaming system, which has now been confirmed and revealed. Of course the reporter in question has sources on PlayStation.
So what do the new documents reveal? The PS5 Pro is codenamed Trinity and will stand alongside the regular PS5, playing the same games with better graphics and performance. The biggest upgrades are on the GPU side, the docs say:
There will be a PS5 Pro 45% faster rendering than PS5.
PS5 Pro will have 2X to 3X better ray-tracing performance (Even 4X in many cases).
PS5 Pro will have 33.5 TFLOPS of processing power for the GPU.
PS5 Pro will have New PSSR special upscaling/anti-aliasing technology (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling).
PS5 Pro will have Specialized machine learning framework.
PS5 Pro will have Built-in AI accelerator with power 67 TFLOPS For 16-bit floating point calculations.
Up to PS5 Pro will be supported 8K resolutions With future SDK updates.
According to Insider Gaming, Sony's first-party studios will receive their first dev kits in September 2023, while third-party companies will receive their dev kits in January 2024. The console's final release is expected during the 2024 holiday season.
